Dropkin (Southborough, Mass.) and his team of Korey Dropkin (Southborough, Mass.), Thomas Howell (Brick, N.J.), Derek Corbett (Rochester, N.Y.) and Cameron Ross (Princeton Junction, N.J.) had their closest match of the week as they held on to defeat Minnesota I's Ethan Meyers rink, 6-5, to improve to 7-0.

The 10 men's and 10 women's teams will compete in a round robin with the top four teams on each side advancing to the playoffs. The winning teams will represent the U.S. at the 2012 World Junior Championships March 3-11 in Oestersund, Sweden. The opening ceremonies for the 2012 Junior Nationals will take place at 4 p.m. CT Saturday followed by the first round of competition at 8 a.m. Sunday.

USA's Korey Dropkin won the bronze medal in mixed doubles with teammate Marina Verenich of Russia as the inaugural 2012 Winter Youth Olympic Games came to a close today at the Innsbruck Exhibition Centre Curling Hall.
This is the first Winter Youth Olympic Games medal won in curling for the United States. "It feels amazing. I always wanted to get a medal and now it has happened. It feels great," said Dropkin, 16.
Dropkin (Southborough, Mass.) and Verenich defeated Japan's Mako Tamakuma and Korea's Minhyeon Yoo, 6-5, in an extra end to earn the bronze medal. Switerland's Michael Brunner and Germany's Nicole Muskatewitz won the very first Youth Olympic Games mixed doubles gold medal for curling when they defeated Korea's Eunbi Kim and Norway's Martin Sesaker, 13-2. It was the second gold for Brunner, who also won team gold with Switzerland.
