USA men open with win at 2013 World Juniors in Russia

February 28, 2013
Korey Dropkin helped Team USA rally back and win the opening round of play this morning as the 2013 World Junior Championships got underway.

Trailing by two points, the American men (1-0) scored a deuce in the 10th end to force an extra end against Marek Cernovsky's Czech Republic rink and then stole the winning point to start the round robin with a win at the Ice Cube Curling Center.

"We came out pretty well. We had a few rough ends but kept in it, made some more shots and we came back and held on," said Dropkin (Southborough, Mass.), 17, a student at Algonquin Regional High School.
