USA ladies fall to defending champs in opening round

The defending world champions from Scotland were too much for the Americans to handle this afternoon as Team USA fell 9-7 in the first round of women's action at the 2013 World Junior Championships.

Making her skipping debut at the World Juniors, 21-year-old Miranda Solem (Cohasset, Minn.) couldn't hold back the offense of Hannah Fleming's rink at the Ice Cube Curling Center as Scotland used its last rock advantage skillfully as Fleming twice converted for big ends that fueled the win for the Scots.
