The final field for the 2014 U.S. Olympic Team Trials for Curling has now been determined.

USA Curling's High Performance Selection Committee has selected the John Shuster rink as the final men's team to bring the field to five. That team includes 2010 Olympian Jeff Isaacson (Gilbert, Minn.), Jared Zezel (Duluth, Minn.), and John Landsteiner (Duluth, Minn.).

The Courtney George rink has been selected as the final women's team for the Trials. The team includes George (St. Paul, Minn.), Aileen Sormunen (Duluth, Minn.), Amanda McLean (Duluth, Minn.), and Monica Walker (Brighton, Mass.), who has replaced Julie Lilla.

USA Curling is seeking candidates to nominate for the Jack Kelly Fair Play Award, which was established by the United States Olympic Committee in 1985 to honor the late USOC President Jack Kelly Jr. The award is presented to an athlete, team, coach or official in recognition of an outstanding act of fair play and sportsmanship displayed during the past year.

Fair play can be described as an athlete who is dedicated to playing fair, obeys the rules, and upholds the spirit of the game. Sportsmanship is an athlete whose conduct and attitude demonstrate gracious behavior before, during, and after competition.

If you have a candidate, please send the details to Terry Kolesar at USA Curling (terry.kolesar@usacurl.org) for consideration to be nominated to the USOC for this award. Please send nominations and supporting information to USA Curling by June 10.

Nominations are now being accepted for the 2012-13 United States Curling Association Volunteer of the Year Award. This award was developed to recognize and encourage contributions to the sport at the club level. Primary consideration will be given to volunteer work nominees performed in their home clubs during the 2012-13 season. All members of the USCA are eligible for nomination with the exception of current USCA board members and employees of USA Curling. Completed applications must be submitted to USA Curling by 5 p.m. CDT on Friday, June 14, 2013, to be eligible for consideration. Click here to download the nomination form.

Two Americans have been appointed to the inaugural World Curling Federation (WCF) Athlete Commission and the first Competitions and Rules Commission, the WCF announced today.

Mark Swandby (Madison, Wis.), a past president of the United States Curling Association (USCA) and current board member and WCF representative, has been nominated to the Competition and Rules Commission. Ann Swisshelm (Chicago), reigning U.S. women's national champion and USCA board member, has been appointed to the WCF Athlete Commission.

"We are very proud to have Mark and Ann represent the United States on these vital WCF commissions," said Rick Patzke, chief operating officer for USA Curling. "Having worked with them both for many years, I am confident that they will have a great impact while serving in these posts."
