Darwin Curtis Fund Grant Program (2013-14)

The United States Curling Association (USCA) is proud to announce that the organization was selected to administer the Darwin Curtis Fund grant program on behalf of The Chicago Community Trust again for the 2013-14 season. The Darwin Curtis Fund was established to “support and encourage participation by the general public in the sport of curling …” Curling clubs with 501(c)(3) not-for-profit status, as well as other 501(c)(3) organizations looking to grow the sport, are encouraged to apply for funding. Grant applications will be accepted in two categories: Growth & Development and Bricks & Mortar. Funding requests can range from $1,000 to $20,000, with a total of $20,000 to be distributed during the 2013-14 grant cycle. Clubs that received grant support during the 2012-13 funding cycle will not be eligible during 2013-14.

All application materials must be submitted in full by 5 p.m. CDT on Friday, June 14, 2013, to be considered. The USCA Executive committee has affirmed a Board of Directors resolution from 2010 delegating authority and responsibility to staff for development and implementation of a High Performance Plan, and has taken further steps to clarify what exactly this means. The Wisconsin Junior Camp will take place July 26-28 at the Four Seasons Curling Club in Blaine, Minn.

Registration information can now be downloaded here.

The host hotel will be Blaine's Super 8 (linked here). The group name is "Junior Curling Camp." please refer to this group when booking at this hotel to get the group rate. The rate is $101.88 per night. To get this rate you must book both nights, and CALL THE HOTEL (1-763-786-8888). You will not get a group rate by booking online.

The USA Curling High Performance Junior Developmental Camp is scheduled for Sept. 13-15, at the Four Seasons Curling Club in Blaine, Minn. The camp is open to junior teams that have strong potential to be successful at the national level. The camp will begin at 7 p.m. on Sept. 13. Applications for the camp will be available soon. USA Curling is now accepting applications for Project 2018 for the 2013-14 season. Applications are due June 7, 2013.

Selection procedures are included in Appendix 1 of the application linked below. Completed applications should be returned to Derek Brown via email at derek.brown@usacurl.org.
